Step Ahead is a national non-profit with a mission to transform the lives of children with autism and their families through running. Step Ahead offers free, campus-based running teams for children with autism. Each team is founded and directed by volunteer college student-athletes, who act as “coaches” to the children “athletes”. Step Ahead’s vision is to inspire confidence, community, and connection between children with autism, their families, and college student-athletes. Founded in 2015 by a college student-athlete at Washington University in St. Louis, Step Ahead will soon have 14 chapters in 10 states across the country.
