Kristin: I would like to introduce our next speaker today Dr. Jared Skowron. He is going to be talking about mitochondrial dysfunction and autism. Welcome, thank you for being here.
Dr. Jared Skowron: Thanks Kristen it’s a pleasure.
Kristin: Well I know I’ve known you for years and you’ve helped many and many-many families throughout the country and the world. For those that might not have heard about you yet can you maybe talk about why you are so passionate about what you do?
Dr. Jared Skowron: Yeah, I’d love to and you know I’ve been a biomedical physician for almost 15 years now. You know when I when I started practicing you know autism was 1 in 200 people, 150 kids. I was able to help make changes in the first girl I saw. The first girl I saw was wheelchair-bound she didn’t know the difference between me and the wall. I didn’t know very much about autism but I knew about nutrition for the brain. We started feeding her B vitamins and magnesium and fish oils some of the basics that we know today but again you know rewind the clock 15 years and we were still learning things. Within a month of treating her she would make eye contact with me and when another month she started talking; and then she started going to school and then she’s moving around…
